Diplomacy is a classic military strategy and political game by Allan B. Calhamer, set in Europe at the turn of the 20th century, just before World War I. Seven players (representing the great powers) compete for continental control. The game is notable for its complete lack of luck (no dice), relying entirely on player negotiation, cunning, and the ability to forge and break alliances. The goal is to control 18 of the 34 supply centers to achieve a solo victory.

Set in a Europe embroiled in an intricate struggle for supremacy, Diplomacy challenges players to dominate the continent through negotiation and betrayal. Each player takes on the role of one of the seven great powers (German, Austro-Hungarian, Ottoman Empires, United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Russia) and, across turns representing Spring and Autumn seasons, moves their troops (infantry and naval units) across the map to conquer supply centers. The core of the game lies in the diplomacy phase, where players negotiate alliances, coordinate movements, and, crucially, deceive each other. Unlike other conquest games, success is entirely dependent on the player's political and strategic cunning, not on dice rolls. It is an intense challenge of cooperation and competition that can end by mutual agreement in a draw or by the absolute dominance of a single player.
