Azul: Summer Pavilion is the third installment in the acclaimed Azul game series, where players take on the roles of artisans tasked with constructing the Summer Pavilion, an unfinished masterpiece commissioned by King Manuel I of Portugal. Using the core tile-drafting mechanic, players must carefully select and place the most beautiful resin materials on their individual boards, aiming for maximum efficiency to build the pavilion's floors and avoid wasting supplies to score points.
This game elevates the challenge of the Azul saga by maintaining the satisfying mechanic of drafting tiles from the Factory Displays, but introduces a new scoring phase and a hexagonal placement pattern on the individual player boards. Players must carefully plan their selections to maximize points, as scoring is based on adjacent tiles and completing sets of the same color. The mechanic of "avoiding waste" remains crucial, as unused tiles incur penalties. The content is high quality, including 132 resin tiles, a Scoring board, and elements like a tower for discards and round markers, ensuring an elegant and deeply strategic gaming experience.
