Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra is the second installment in the Azul series, where players are glass artisans commissioned by King Manuel I to adorn the windows of the Royal Palace of Sintra. The game uses the core tile-drafting mechanic but innovates it with Pattern Strips and the management of the Glass Blower piece. The objective is to create the most beautiful stained-glass windows, which translates into scoring the highest points through the strategic placement of colored crystals (tiles).
This edition introduces an exciting variation to Azul's gameplay. Instead of filling a tile wall, players work on 32 Pattern Strips representing the stained-glass windows of Sintra. The mechanic of drafting crystals (tiles) from the Factory Displays remains, but placement is dynamic: the player must move their Glass Blower figure along their Palace board to place the crystals. Completed strips are scored and then flipped over to offer a new scoring opportunity, adding a layer of strategy regarding which patterns to prioritize and when to move the Glass Blower. The game includes 100 high-quality crystals, a Scoring board, and a Glass Tower for discards, offering a unique visual and strategic challenge for 2-4 players.
