In Art Society, you are an art connoisseur bidding on the most sought-after paintings to create an exquisite gallery that will be the envy of the local art scene. The game's objective is to collect the most points by acquiring paintings through auctions and decorating your personal gallery. However, the value of paintings changes throughout the game, depending on player actions. With artworks divided into four categories, each with varying values, players must carefully place their acquisitions to maximize their score. Be strategic, adapt to the shifting trends, and avoid penalties for surplus paintings. Will you curate the best gallery in town?

You are a connoisseur of art, bidding on the most sought-after masterpieces, carefully curating a gallery with exquisite taste that will make you the envy of the local art scene. But fashion and trends are fleeting, and predicting them is difficult. The paintings that you and your fellow collectors don’t buy will eventually end up in the museum, changing the value of your collection. Who will have the best gallery in town? Designed by Mitch Wallace, Art Society is a game for 2 to 4 players, aged 10 and up, with a playing time of about 45 minutes. The objective of the game is to accumulate the most points by collecting paintings (obtained through an auction mechanism) and decorations for your personal gallery. However, the value of the paintings changes throughout the game depending on player actions. Adapting each round will be key to winning! The paintings in Art Society are divided into four distinct categories, with each one changing in value depending on the outcome of the auctions held each turn. During auctions, players bid to acquire paintings for their gallery, while any unsold artwork goes to the museum, increasing its value for all players. Besides their specific types, paintings come in different sizes and frames, which can affect the space they occupy in your personal gallery. In each turn, players must think carefully about where to place their new artwork to maximize their score. If there’s no space for a painting, it’s considered surplus and penalizes the player at the end of the game. However, each player has an assistant who can hold a painting, providing much-needed help! At the end of the game, points are awarded based on the prestige of each group of paintings, and bonus points are given for valuable works placed in the central area of the board. Unleash your inner art collector!
