The White Castle is a Euro board game designed by Llama Dice (Sheila Santos and Israel Cendrero), set in the imposing Japanese fortress of Himeji, home of the Sakai clan. Players control a clan and compete to earn the most victory points over three rounds by managing resources, strategically placing their workers (gardeners, warriors, courtiers) throughout the castle, and gaining influence in the Daimio's court.
Immersed in a meticulously crafted atmosphere, from the heron flying overhead to the koi carp in the pond, The White Castle plunges players into the life of a clan seeking the favor of Daimio Sakai Tadakiyo. It is a game with core mechanics of resource management, worker placement, and dice placement for executing actions. Over three rounds, clan members are sent to different areas of Himeji Castle (the court's interior, the gardens, or the ramparts). The central board displays these zones, including the "room of a thousand mats" where courtiers ascend socially. The use of dice, available in the three bridges area, is crucial for executing actions efficiently. The White Castle is a title with accessible rules but great strategic depth, suitable for 1 to 4 players.
